What SAFETY Act Designation Means To You

FJC is proud to hold SAFETY Act Designation from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a leading provider of security services, FJC uses innovative security technology solutions that could save lives in the event of a terrorist attack. We received SAFETY Act Designation for our services and technologies in 2013 after a comprehensive review that included over 100 experts in the areas of Economic, Chemical, Biological, Explosives, Radioactive/Nuclear, Human Factors, and Cyber Technology. The Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act (SAFETY Act) was passed by Congress as part of the Homeland Security Act of 2002. The SAFETY Act creates a system of risk and litigation management designed to ensure that the threat of liability in the event of an Act of Terrorism does not deter potential manufacturers or sellers of anti-terrorism technologies from developing, commercializing and deploying technologies that could save lives.

Essentially, the SAFETY Act facilitates the creation and use of anti-terrorism technologies. Its liability provisions apply to a wide range of technologies including products, services, software, and other forms of intellectual property. A full Designation normally lasts for 5 years and can be renewed.

For 25 years, FJC has partnered with private and public sector clients to design and deploy security solutions focused on prevention and protection. We know terrorist attacks can occur anywhere from airports to shopping centers and sports venues. Technologies such as Detection Systems, Screening Services and Security Plans/Services are integral to our programs to protect these facilities – and are technologies protected by the SAFETY Act.

Having SAFETY Act Designation means that FJC can continue to create, deploy and use anti-terrorism technologies to protect our clients’ premises and people. Any technology we deploy during our Designation period is protected for the lifetime of its deployment.
